We LOVE Charlotte, North Carolina!

I have family that lives right outside the city of Charlotte. I visit them a couple times a year, and when I do, I make sure to make a trip or two into the city. Be sure to check out our How to Make Your Life Easier as a Traveler blog post which includes discount links to some of our favorite products!!

This past year, I was able to bring Kenny to visit for the first time, and we had an absolute blast exploring together. The city is so clean and quiet with plenty to do and see.

Here are 10 places we recommend for your next trip:

  1. Aura Rooftop Pool and Bar:

Starting out strong with our favorite spot here, we have Aura Rooftop Pool and Bar!

This absolutely stunning rooftop is a hidden gem of Charlotte. The pool is obviously closed in the winter, but on warm days, you can relax by the poolside on the rooftop with any bar purchase! Grab a towel (Amazon Associates) and sunscreen (AAP) and relax in the lounge chairs or swim in the pool with a drink in hand. If you aren't feeling the pool, they have a normal rooftop bar side with plenty of comfy seats with picturesque views. If it is winter, don't worry because they also have amazing seasonal drinks including cozy winter drinks, holiday decor, and heated tents. Pro tip: Go to Happy Hour on Wednesdays for discounted small plates and drinks!

  1. Morelia Gourmet Paletas:

You NEED to try this unique ice cream spot in Charlotte!

At Morelia, you basically get to make your own ice cream bar. You can choose your ice cream bar base, then your dip and toppings. I cannot tell you enough how much we enjoyed this dessert!! Perfect for a refreshing fruity popsicle or even some chocolatey heaven.

3. Ink and Ivy:

Ink and Ivy is a huge sports bar open late in the heart of Charlotte!

This is a popular spot to grab a bite to eat, watch sporting events, and hang out with friends. The bar has drink specials everyday. Be sure to check their website for these (https://charlotte.inknivy.com/charlotte-ink-n-ivy-charlotte-happy-hours-specials)! PSA: This spot has outdoor seating as well

  1. Charlotte Beer Garden:

The Charlotte Beer Garden is a perfect day or night spot to grab a bite to eat and drink

This beer garden literally has a tree growing in the middle of its three stories! There is a large outdoor seating section as well as a rooftop. The icing on the cake is that this beer garden has a HUGE draft beer selection. They are also open late every night so you can have late-night drinks to celebrate any occasion any day! Check out their website for info on Trivia Nights (charlottebeergarden.com) We highly recommend checking out this cool spot!

5. Green:

The Green is a beautiful park where you can bask in the sun and take a relaxing stroll.

Grab your favorite picnic blanket or towel and stretch out in the grass! There are different pieces of art and statues to see all around. Sometimes, they have special exhibits to walk around and read about as well. Make sure to get a picture in front of the Charlotte city sign (like in the picture below)! Pro Tip: This is a super fun city to bring a disposable camera to!

  1. Bechtler Museum of Modern Art:

Located right across the street from the green, this museum has tickets available for only $9 on their website (www.bechtler.org/visit).

There are college, military, and senior discounts as well. On Wednesdays, they have FREE admission from 5-9PM. It is a fun and entertaining way to see the modern art located in this city of Charlotte. There are special events posted on the website as well as tours and classes for around $6. You can also do a self-guided tour and spend as much time as you wish in this four-story museum. (The disposable camera is amazing for this!)

7. Merchant and Trade Rooftop Lounge:

This classy and relaxing rooftop is located right across the street from the baseball stadium.

If there is a game happening, you can actually watch from the comfort of the rooftop over dinner and drinks. This is a fun, but affordable form of entertainment for both baseball lovers and for people who wish to spend some time mingling in a beautiful rooftop lounge. There is indoor seating available by reservation for dinner and drinks.

  1. Romare Bearden Park and Church Street Eats:

Romare Bearden Park is a perfect place to sit down, relax, and enjoy nature.

In the spring, there are beautiful cherry blossom trees everywhere. You can take a short stroll before heading over to Church Street where you will see a strip of food options and shops starting with The French Quarter. If you would like to enjoy beautiful weather, there is plenty of outdoor seating at these restaurants as well and no cars are allowed in this alleyway.

  1. Coquette Brasserie:

This elegant French cuisine inspired restaurant is so aesthetically pleasing and Instagram-worthy.

You can head to this spot for a fancy dinner date or even just a cup of coffee with pastries from their gorgeous café. There is outdoor seating available here as well, but we suggest taking in the scenery indoors for the best experience.

    10. Duck Donuts:

Be sure to grab a donut from the famous Duck Donuts of North Carolina!

The closest location to the main hub of Charlotte is on Kenilworth Ave, but you will need a car or scooter to get there if you are in downtown. Trust us, these donuts will not disappoint. They have many signature flavors, seasonal options, and classic fan favorites to try. You literally can't go wrong here!
