Top 7 Most Instagrammable Spots on Catalina Island, California

Image
Here are the BEST spots to take photos on Catalina Island: (Refer to the map above for certain directions.)       1.  Avalon Overlook: We recommend r enting a golf cart and going up the winding road to find the hidden staircase leading to this beautiful spot. It is located between stops C and D on the map. The grass is super green, and there are little yellow wildflowers which enhance your photos! You have a perfect view of the town too! (And honestly, this was our favorite spot!) (Avalon Overlook) (Staircase to Photo Spot)                                                                 2. Wrigley Memorial &  Botanic Garden:   Continue along the route in your  golf cart to the botanical gardens and old temple! If you do not have a golf cart, it is a 30 minute walk from the center of tow...

The Perfect Day Trip to Santa Catalina Island (off the Los Angeles coast)

Image
Believe it or not , there is a beautiful, small island off the coast of California right near Los Angeles! It is often overlooked, but we think it deserves to be recognized. Some people call this island, “ the mini Amalfi Coast ”. While this island is definitely NOT Italy in the slightest, my boyfriend and I did thoroughly enjoy our day trip here! Santa Catalina Island can only be reached by ferry for the most part. There is a small airport on the island but it is very expensive and fairly far from the main town of Avalon.   Ferries run from the coast of California every day! We used the Newport Beach, California option.  In the off season (which is when we went) these boats leave at 9:00am from Newport Beach and depart at 4:30pm from the island. In the summer, boats depart at 7:30am and 12:30pm from Newport Beach and depart 4:30pm and 8:30pm from the island.   This one that we used was called the " Catalina Flyer ". We found discounted round-trip ferry ti...

However, we all came to the conclusion that our favorite adventure of the vacation was the day trip to Renaissance Island!   Check out some videos on our Tiktok @just.travel.now for more on the vacation!  Here's everything we learned from our experience that will help you have the BEST day possible: You will need to take a boat to this island off the coast of Aruba, but don't worry, everything is included in your day pass.  The cost for the day was $125 each. BUT WAIT... Before that price scares anyone away, let me tell you what is included... The round-trip water taxi ride to the island is included. A $25 food voucher for their restaurant or beach service (which I will talk about later) is also included. Included at no extra charge were non-motorized water sports such as kay...
