The Perfect Day Trip to Santa Catalina Island (off the Los Angeles coast)

Image
Believe it or not , there is a beautiful, small island off the coast of California right near Los Angeles! It is often overlooked, but we think it deserves to be recognized. Some people call this island, “ the mini Amalfi Coast ”. While this island is definitely NOT Italy in the slightest, my boyfriend and I did thoroughly enjoy our day trip here! Santa Catalina Island can only be reached by ferry for the most part. There is a small airport on the island but it is very expensive and fairly far from the main town of Avalon.   Ferries run from the coast of California every day! In the summer, boats depart at 7:30am and 12:30pm from Newport Beach and depart 4:30pm and 8:30pm from the island.   This one that we used was called the " Catalina Flyer ". We found discounted round-trip ferry ti...

Image
This STUNNING  location is literally known as the “ Maldives of Central America ” and TRUST ME , it will NOT disappoint.  You can see this beautiful location on our tiktok:  Bacalar Lagoon . This 30+ mile stretch of beautiful clear water is called Bacalar Lagoon , but its second name is “ Laguna de los Siete Colores ” which means lagoon of seven colors. This name is super fitting because as you travel down the waters of the lagoon, you will literally find seven different hues of blue . It is truly remarkable! The soft, white sand bottom is made of white limestone which purifies the water and keeps it as clean as a pool. The freshwater lake is safe for swimming and diving! Professional divers go to the depths of the various cenotes that are located throughout the lagoon. The depths can reach up to 180ft !! Now, of course, you want to go see for yourself, right?! Let’s talk about the best ways that you can reach this bucket list destination… While Bacal...
